How to generate a strong interview preparation playbook

Use this guide to prepare the required inputs, optionally add a company website for limited web research, generate a tailored playbook, and export the final result as a polished PDF for candidate review.

What you need before starting

Required

Candidate resume

Paste or upload the candidate's resume. Use a complete resume when possible so the playbook can identify proof points, strengths, and likely gaps.

Required

Job description

Paste or upload the full job description. Include responsibilities, qualifications, preferred skills, and any company language that appears in the posting.

Required

Interviewer 1 profile

Enter the first interviewer's name, title, and profile/context. This profile is required because the playbook needs at least one interviewer strategy section.

Step-by-step process

01

Open the app and sign in

From the home page, select Open app or Build my playbook. Sign in if prompted so the app can securely generate the playbook.

02

Add the role and company context

Enter the target role, company name, and company website when available. The website field is optional, but it allows the app to run one limited web search and incorporate company-specific context into the playbook.

03

Input the resume and job description

Paste the text directly or use the upload control above each text area. For PDFs, use searchable PDFs rather than scanned image-only files.

04

Add interviewer profiles

Complete Interviewer 1. Add Interviewers 2–4 only when you have enough information to make the strategy useful.

05

Generate the playbook

Select Generate interview playbook. The result streams live on the right side of the page. Use Stop if you need to cancel generation.

06

Review and export

Review the generated playbook, including any company research insights if a website was provided. Use Copy to place it on your clipboard, Retry to regenerate, or Download PDF to save a professionally formatted PDF file.

Optional inputs that improve results

  • Target role, company name, and company website help create a cleaner PDF title and more specific positioning language.
  • Company website is optional. When entered, the app performs one limited OpenAI web search using the company site as the starting point to gather interview-relevant company context.
  • Interviewers 2–4 are optional. Add them only when you have useful context such as LinkedIn summaries, company bios, recruiter notes, or your own notes.
  • Each large text field accepts typing, pasted text, or an uploaded TXT, DOCX, or searchable PDF document.

Best practices

  • Remove duplicate resume pages, repeated job posting text, and unrelated profile content before generating.
  • Use specific interviewer context. A short recruiter note is often more useful than a generic biography.
  • If adding a company website, use the primary company domain rather than a generic search result or social media profile.
  • After the playbook generates, check the research gaps section first so the candidate has time to close high-priority unknowns.
  • If an uploaded PDF returns no readable text, convert it to a searchable PDF or paste the text manually.

Company website research guidance

The company website field is optional. If you provide it, the backend sends one limited OpenAI web search request using the website as the starting point. The search is designed to stay narrow and gather only interview-relevant details such as company overview, values, products or services, strategic language, recent public themes, and research gaps the candidate should verify.

PDF export guidance

The Download PDF button appears after the playbook has generated. The PDF includes a title page treatment, section headings, page numbers, and a clean layout designed for professional interview preparation notes.
